The Tilford Group

Welcome to the Tilford Group

Pittsburg State University’s Tilford Group formed April 27, 2007, in response to the first Michael Tilford Conference on Diversity and Multiculturalism, named in honor of the late Dean of the Graduate School at Wichita State University. Our nascent organization quickly found an advocate in Dr. Steve Scott, then Provost now President of the University. Provost Dr. Howard Smith continues the tradition of providing fiscal and administrative support.

Composed of volunteers from among faculty, staff and administration, Tilford Group members actively and cooperatively initiate efforts to attract speakers, to present panels, to coordinate workshops and to produce academic and cultural events dedicated to reflecting our commitment to diversity and multiculturalism. Specific initiatives may be viewed in our Activities, Events, and Speakers page.

  • Post-Election Decompress: Moving Forward - 11/10/2020 at 12 pm.

Details ( Meeting ID 921 1911 4840 )

Regardless of election outcomes we know anxiety and tensions are running high. Collectively we need to determine how to move forward. The purpose of this brown bag is to provide a historical perspective of post-elections and a personal/mental perspective about managing stress and personal health post-election.

Dr. Chris Childers, Associate Professor of History/US Political History, and Ms. Sally Pullman-Rinkel, University Counselor - Bryant Health Center, will help guide the conversation. The rest of the format is open discussion, Q&A, and resource sharing. This session is meant to be a respectful and safe virtual space open to all faculty, staff, and administrators.
