The Nutrition and Wellness Major offers a comprehensive exploration of the relationship between diet, lifestyle, and overall health.

Through a blend of scientific coursework, hands-on practical experiences, and personalized wellness coaching, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to promote healthy living and prevent chronic diseases.

Unique class topics in the Nutrition and Wellness minor:

  • Nutrition and Health: Explore the principles of nutrition and their impact on human health, examining the role of nutrients, dietary patterns, and lifestyle factors in promoting wellness and preventing chronic diseases.
  • Lifespan Human Development: Investigate the biological, cognitive, and socioemotional aspects of human development across the lifespan, analyzing theories and research findings to understand the factors influencing growth, maturation, and aging.
  • Directed Readings in Family and Consumer Sciences: Engage in independent study and scholarly exploration of specialized topics within family and consumer sciences, conducting directed readings, research, and critical analysis under the guidance of faculty mentors.

Additional courses cover topics such as health promotion and disease prevention, community nutrition, and food science and preparation techniques.
