Notice of Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination Policy

Purpose: Pittsburg State University sets forth university policies regarding equal employment opportunities in the workplace and equal access to university educational programs and activities.

Applies to: All employees, applicants for employment, and participants in Pittsburg State University’s educational programs and activities.

Policy:

As provided for by applicable law, no person shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination nor related retaliation in employment, any educational program, or any activity of the university on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex – including pregnancy, age, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, protected genetic information, marital status, parental status, or on any other basis.

The university prohibits discrimination in its educational and employment policies and practices as required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Vietnam Era Veteran’s Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, and other applicable laws, state statutes, and the Kansas Board of Regents and university policies. The university prohibits sexual harassment, including sexual violence.

All university job postings and advertisements should include approved equal opportunity language.

The university has designated the Director of Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX Coordinator located at Russ Hall to handle inquiries regarding equal opportunity and nondiscrimination policies, procedures, and programs.

 

CONSEQUENCES

A failure to comply with the requirements of this policy may lead to disciplinary action or other applicable consequences afforded to the university under federal and state law.
