Leadership Studies Minor

Explore theories of leadership, ethical decision-making, and organizational behavior while honing practical leadership skills through experiential learning opportunities.

By fostering critical thinking, communication, and collaboration, the minor prepares students to make meaningful contributions as leaders in their communities and professions.

Unique class topics in the Leadership Studies minor:

  • Foundations of Leadership: Explore the fundamentals of leadership through interactive lectures, case studies, and group discussions, analyzing leadership theories and models to understand effective leadership behaviors and strategies.
  • Service Learning Seminar: Engage in planning and implementing a project that provides service to the community or take a leadership role in an existing service learning project. 
  • Leadership Seminar: Apply leadership skills within your chosen career setting. Engage in at least 10 hours of fieldwork including observing leaders in a chosen career setting and experience in taking leadership roles within that same career setting.

Additional courses cover topics such as management and organizational behavior, program design and leadership, industrial and organizational psychology, intercultural communication, and ethics.
