Curriculum topics in the Accelerated Medical Path emphasis

  • Anatomy and Physiology: structure and function of the human body
  • Biology: general biology, microbiology, and genetics
  • Chemistry: general chemistry and organic chemistry
  • Physics: understanding radiation, medical imaging, and the physical properties of fluids and gases
  • Medical Terminology: the language of medicine and healthcare.

 

Program Overview

Year 1-3: Undergraduate studies at Pitt State

Begin your academic journey with rigorous yet enriching undergraduate coursework at Pitt State. Lay the foundation for your future medical or dental studies while enjoying a vibrant campus life.

Year 4: Early entry to KCU

Transition seamlessly to KCU in your fourth year, saving valuable time in your pursuit of a medical or dental degree. Engage in advanced coursework and clinical experiences to further hone your skills.

Year 5-7: Complete medical/dental education

Complete the remaining years of your medical or dental education at KCU. Immerse yourself in hands-on clinical training, research opportunities, and specialized coursework to prepare for your healthcare career.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the AMP-UP application academic requirements?

26 ACT (superscores are accepted) and 3.6 overall GPA (and at least a 3.5 GPA in Math, Science, and Language Arts courses; on a 4.0 scale).

Who can apply to this accelerated program?

You can apply to our program during your senior year of high school and begin AMP-UP as an incoming freshman.

Alternatively, you may apply after enrolling at Pitt State, as long as it's within your first semester of college following high school graduation. 

What is the application deadline/timeline for High School Seniors?

Our program has rolling admission; we are interviewing and accepting students throughout the Spring of their senior year of high school. The priority deadline is December 1.

What is the application deadline/timeline for current Pitt State freshman college students?

Our program has rolling admission; we are interviewing and accepting students throughout the Fall of their freshman year at Pitt State. The priority deadline is November 15.

What is the interview process?

After we review the applications, Pitt State will extend interview offers to select students. The interviews will be offered multiple times per year.

How many students are accepted into this program?

This program will accept 35 students per year: 25 students for the medical track and 10 students for the dental track.

Upon admission to the program, will I be required to complete the MCAT or DAT?

Yes, all students will be required to take the MCAT or DAT prior to matriculation to KCU medical or dental school, however, the scores will not be used in the KCU admission decision.

When will I take the MCAT or DAT?

You will take the MCAT or DAT your sixth semester at Pitt State.
