Overman Student Center Food and Beverage Policy

Applies to: All individuals who schedule space in the Pittsburg State University Overman Student Center.

Policy:

Introduction

Elior Collegiate Dining is the exclusive, contracted provider of food and beverages for the Overman Student Center (OSC). 

No food or beverages may be sold or distributed in the OSC or its immediate exterior areas (e.g., landings, terraces, doorways) without prior approval from both Elior and the OSC Director. All food and beverages—alcoholic and non-alcoholic—must be purchased through Elior. 

Facility Use

Only Elior-authorized personnel may use food preparation and serving equipment and spaces (e.g., catering kitchen). 

Tenant and Campus Users Guidelines

OSC tenants (e.g., Barnes & Noble, Campus & Community Resource Center (CCRC), Student Government Association (SGA), Gorilla Activities Board (GAB), Students for Sustainability (S4S), Campus Activities and the Overman Student Center Office only functions are limited to those who are employed or have membership to the tenant (CAC/OSC), Dean of Students Office) may bring outside food into their private offices for office only functions. Office-only functions are reserved for individuals who are employed by or hold membership with the tenant organization; these events are not open to the general public.

Registered student organizations and Pittsburg State University departments may bring pre-packaged snacks and canned/bottled non-alcoholic beverages into the following second-floor meeting rooms*: Kansas 1–4, Sunset A & B, Meadowlark, Cottonwood, Balkans, and Prairie, under these conditions: 

  • Total cost must not exceed $100. 
  • Only snack items are allowed—no meals. 
  • Items must be store-bought, pre-packaged, non-perishable, individually wrapped, and not require heating or cooling. 
  • Deli or bakery counter items, donuts, or pizza are not considered pre-packaged. 
  • Intent to bring food must be declared during room reservation. 
  • Rooms must be returned to their original condition, or a cleaning fee may apply. 

Exceptions

Snacks are not allowed in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom(s), Heritage, Sunflower, and Governors rooms.

Individuals may bring personal meals for their own individual consumption.

Reservations

All OSC reservations should be made two (2) business days in advance. Reservations can be made via scheduling@pittstate.edu, 235.4791, or in person at 109 Overman Student Center. Scheduling is available Monday-Friday 9 am to 4 pm.
