GUSMail Transition

PSU has worked with Google for over a decade to provide free GUSMail accounts to all alumni, students, faculty, and staff.  Recently Google changed its policy.  Beginning in the summer of 2022 Google will no longer provide these accounts at zero charge.  Therefore PSU is taking action now to ensure that our clients have the time that they need to move any data (GUSMail Email Messages, Google Docs, Google Drive Files, Photos, etc) to another account.  You will find directions on how to migrate your data below.

Pittsburg State supports the migration of information from @gus.pittstate.edu email account to another @gmail.com account. As a client, you are welcome to move your information over to another email provider.  However, you will need to research on how to move your information.
A free Gmail account is limited to 15 GB of storage.  If you have more than that stored in your GUSMail, you either have to reduce the size or pay for the extra storage needed.  Here is some ideas of how to reduce the size of your account: https://www.google.com/search?q=free+up+space

Until the Google @gus.pittstate.edu account is closed, you will continue to receive emails in that account even after moving your email. Please be aware, that you will need to take action on those emails.
If you used this email account to purchase anything on the Google play store you will lose access as purchases can't be transferred.

The best way to download/transfer Google Docs, Google Drive files, etc. is through Google Takeout.  Google Takeout is a free service built for this very purpose.  To learn more, check out this Business Insider article.
