Halle Brin recently concluded her research study, "The Effects of High-Intensity Functional Training on Middle-Aged Females." Brin, a graduate assistant in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation, wanted to study individual beliefs about exercise using a high-intensity functional training (HIFT) model. Participants not only saw physical changes but gained tremendous confidence to exercise independently. Full article

Students majoring in Exercise Science at PSU are getting real-world experience while at the same time gathering data that could prove valuable to Pittsburg firefighters: they're using high-tech equipment to measure their cardiovascular and pulmonary function during high stress exercise.
