This year, the deans from the College of Arts & Sciences, Kelce College of Business, College of Education and the Crossland College of Technology are competing to raise the most for their college. At stake? - The dean from the college that raises the most money on Gorilla Giving Day will provide apparel from their college to the other deans to wear for a day on campus. Pitt State is proud to partner with restaurants from the Pittsburg community as part of this year's Gorilla Giving Day campaign. Seven local favorites have adopted a college or fund to support, where a portion of their proceeds will be donated to PSU. And best yet, those proceeds will count towards the College Competition for the deans!

How can I make a gift to Pittsburg State University?

Pittsburg State University is able to accept gifts in a variety of ways for your convenience. One method is to give safely and securely online at pittstate.edu/givenow. A second method is to give through the mail in response to any annual Direct Mail solicitation. Another option is to establish a planned gift to leave a lasting legacy to be remembered, which can be in the form of cash, retirement assets, stocks and bonds, or insurance. And finally, a Gift-in-Kind may be accepted, which is the gift of goods/physical assets or services.

Where can my gift to Pittsburg State University be directed?

Gifts made to scholarships, program support, faculty support, and facilities are all priorities of Pittsburg State University. Gifts that are not designated go to the PSU Annual Fund, where they benefit PSU students by providing scholarships, enhancing course development, funding innovative equipment, attracting top faculty, and more. When making a gift online, use the drop down menu or open field to designate your gift. You may also make a gift in memory or honor of someone.

Why am I asked to cover credit card fees?

Credit card companies deduct fees on every transaction. You can increase your impact by offsetting these fees, which are 3%. If you choose to cover that additional fee, the cost to cover the credit card fees will be added to your charitable gift amount.

What are the ways I can give to Pitt State?

  • Annual Fund – An account where monetary gifts are held and able to be used to assist with the greatest needs of the University
  • Bequest – To designate an organization as the beneficiary of your asset by will, trust or beneficiary designation form
  • Beneficiary Designation Gifts – To designate an organization as a beneficiary of a retirement, investment or bank account, or life insurance policy
  • Endowed Scholarship – A scholarship that is funded for several years and can benefit multiple students as the principal donation isn’t used to award the scholarship, but instead the interest earned through the principal donation is used as the awarded amount
  • Gift-in-Kind – A non-monetary donation in the form of goods or services that can be used to enhance the University’s strategy
  • Matching Gift – A type of philanthropy in which companies financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations
  • Planned Gift – A gift provided for legally during the donor’s lifetime, but whose principal benefits do not accrue to the institution until some further time, usually upon the death of the donor or his or her beneficiary
  • Pledge – A signed and dated commitment to make a gift over a specified period
  • Recurring Gift – When a donor elects to make an ongoing donation over a selected period of time instead of a one-time gift
  • Scholarship – A grant or payment made to support a student’s education, awarded on the basis of need, academic achievement, or other achievements
  • Unrestricted Gift – A gift to an institution for whatever purposes officers or trustees choose
