Number of students who participated in Research Colloquium
The Research Colloquium is an annual event at Pittsburg State University designed to showcase works of our graduate, undergraduate, and high school students. The number of students participating in the Research Colloquium is the total number of students presenting at the event, either in oral or poster format.

Number of faculty and staff certified as Master Advisors
Designation as Master Advisor requires initial completion of an academic advising program to build knowledge and skills in advisement with continual professional development requirements to maintain Master Advisor status. Master Advisor status is an indicator of quality advising to our students.

Number of credit hours generated by E-Learning Academy certified online courses
The E-Learning Academy is a year-long program consisting of Quality Matters training, monthly meetings, and a peer review process. Course meeting E-Learning standards indicate high level of quality in online teaching.

First to Second Year Retention Rate
Retention rate is the percentage of Pittsburg State University’s first-time, full-time fall freshman undergraduate students who continue at the institution the following fall.

Graduation rate is the percentage of Pittsburg State University’s first-time, full-time freshman students who complete their degree within six years.

Student Engagement
Student engagement is measured but the percentage of seniors self-reporting participation in two or more High Impact Practices as indicated by National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). High Impact Practices include:
- Learning community or some other formal program where groups of students take two or more classes together
- Courses that included a community-based project (service-learning)
- Work with a faculty member on a research project
- Internship, co-op, field experience, student teaching, or clinical placement
- Study abroad
- Culminating senior experience (e.g. capstone course, senior project or thesis, comprehensive exam, portfolio.)

The Bicknell Family Center for the Arts is the region’s premiere destination for the fine and performing arts. Total attendance at the center is an indication of community impact, both in terms of building community around the arts and economic impact.

Composite Financial Index
The composite financial index (CFI) is a measure of financial health used widely throughout higher education. It relies on information from audited financial statements and utilizes four core ratios measuring various aspects of an organization’s financial well being. The ratios are the primary reserve ratio, the viability ratio, the return on net assets ratio, and the net operating revenues ratio. The four ratios are weighted and combined to determine the CFI.
