Pre-Employment Background Checks

What Does This Do?

The Kansas Board of Regents requires that each state university shall perform a criminal background check on persons hired for certain state university positions. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the background check as outlined in the Pre-Employment Screening Policy.

The background check is completed electronically through the University’s third party vendor. The pre-employment screening includes a criminal background check, sex offender registry check, and may also include a credit history report if necessary for the position. Before making an adverse decision, the University will provide the prospective employee with a copy of the consumer/background report and a description in writing of the individual’s rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
