Math Club

The Math Club hosts social and professional events for students with an interest in the mathematical sciences. It provides a network for such students by meeting to discuss their mathematical interests and activities. In addition to its own meetings, the Math Club holds joint meetings throughout the semester with the PSU Kappa Mu Epsilon chapter.

The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is a professional society with focus on mathematics accessible at the undergraduate level. The Math Club serves as the MAA student chapter at PSU. The MAA Student Chapters program was launched in January 1989 to encourage students to continue study in the mathematical sciences, provide opportunities to meet with other students interested in mathematics, interact with prominent mathematicians at national meetings, and provide career information in the mathematical sciences. There are no scholastic requirements, and students need not be mathematics majors.

The MAA sponsors a national meeting, MathFest, in the summer, and meets jointly with the American Mathematical Society in January at the Joint Mathematics Meeting. The Kansas section of the MAA meets annually as well. These meetings provide students with the opportunity to showcase their work and interact with the mathematical community.
