GUS Cloud Terminology

Admin System: PSU’s administrative system (also known as: IBM, secure shell (SSH), GUS).

Chart of Accounts (COA): an organized framework or information structure used in all financial systems to define financial transactions and balances.  The chart of accounts framework as defined in Oracle Cloud will consist of a string of 8 fields or segments.   Click here to see an example.

Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO): Chief Information Officer is a job title commonly given to the most senior executive in an enterprise responsible for the information technology and computer systems that support enterprise goals. The Kansas Executive Branch CITO reviews and consults with each executive agency regarding information technology plans, monitors compliance with all information technology policies, and coordinates implementation of new information technology.

Conference Room Pilot (CRP): The purpose of the conference room pilot is to validate a software application against the business processes of end-users by allowing end-users to use the software to carry out typical or key business processes during a testing cycle. 

Configurations – the way a system is set up, an arrangement of functional units according to their nature, number, and chief characteristics.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Oracle's solution that will take care of business office/financial/purchasing processes. Oracle also calls this solution Financials. We will call it GUS Financials and GUS Procurement.

Gorilla User System (GUS):  PSU's administrative system (also known as: IBM, secure shell (SSH), admin system).  GUS will not go away with this implementation; but the core system for financials, purchasing and human resources will be replaced.

GUS Budget: PSU's name for Oracle's Pension & Budgeting Cloud Solution (PBCS). PBCS will replace PSU’s budget system.

GUS Finance:  PSU's new name for Oracle's ERP solution for business office/financial processes.

GUS Financials: Oracle's solution that will take care of business office/financial/purchasing processes. We will call it GUS Financials and GUS Procurement.

GUS HR:  PSU's new name for Oracle's Human Capital Management (HCM) solution for all things HRS.

GUS Procurement: PSU's new name for Oracle's ERP solution for purchasing processes.

GUS Recruit:  PSU's new name for Oracle's Taleo/Talent solution. It will replace our Electronic Appoint (EAP)/Hiring process. We will call it GUS Talent.

Human Capital Management (HCM): Oracle's HCM solution includes all of the modules that will replace all things HRS, including Core HR, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, Time & Labor, Absence Management, and Goal & Performance Management. We will call this solution GUS HR.

IBM: PSU’s administrative system (also known as: admin system, secure shell (SSH), GUS).

Information Technology Services (ITS): ITS furnishes the campus with effective and efficient information technology and related support services.

Request for proposal (RFP): a solicitation, often made through a bidding process, by an agency or company interested in procurement of a commodity, service or valuable asset, to potential suppliers to submit business proposals.

Requester:  A Requester completes the whole order in the new GUS Cloud system.  Requester's can apply funding, PCard information submit for approval, then receipt and track an order.

Secure Shell:  PSU’s administrative system (also known as: admin system, IBM, GUS).

Shopper:  A Shopper has limited responsibility and access in Gorilla Marketplace.  Shoppers can only shop and fill carts.  Shoppers have to assign their carts to a Requester.  There will be no shoppers in GUS Cloud.

Subject Matter Expert (SME): a person who is an authority in a particular area or topic.

Workflows - application is a software application which automates a process or processes.
