Guide the next generation by helping them understand the past.

Bridge the gap between historical events and current societal issues, enabling high school and middle school students to recognize the relevance of history in their lives today.

At Pitt State, History Education majors analyze historical sources, interpret narratives, and evaluate differing perspectives. By graduation, develop a great understanding of the human experience across history.

Prepare for licensure in the state of Kansas

The history Education curriculum at Pitt State is comprehensive and effective. Our program is accredited by both the Kansas Department of Education and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation

Upon successfully passing state teaching exams, graduates of this program receive a license to teach a range of subjects including History, Government, Geography, Economics, and Psychology.

Will I student-teach before graduation?

A distinctive aspect of our curriculum is a semester-long teaching opportunity within local schools. This includes shadowing licensed teachers in public schools and gradually transitioning into an independent teaching role.
