Champions Plaza Pavers
Pittsburg State has made gameday even better with the addition of Champions Plaza. Constructed in the summer of 2014, this special area is dedicated to the spirit and passion of Gorilla players and fans throughout history.
Designed by Gorillas, for Gorillas, Champions Plaza is a must-see destination.
One of its greatest features is the addition of personalized pavers that are installed within the famous “Gorilla Walk” pathway. For the first time in history, Pittsburg State is offering its alumni and fans alike to become a permanent part of the historic Gorilla Walk by ordering a Champions Plaza Paver.
The pavers are a perfect way to honor a loved one or demonstrate your Gorilla pride.

This fall, a Champions Plaza medallion was dedicated to Russ Jewett, former head cross country and track & field coach who served the university for more than three decades. He retired from coaching in May. As one of the winningest coaches in history, he guided the women's outdoor track & field squad to an NCAA D-II National Championship in 2016 and the men's indoor track & field team to an NCAA D-II National Championship in 2018. His teams combined to win 55 conference championships during his decorated tenure.
