Surface Chemistry Research

Our main area of interest is in surface chemistry, particularly as it relates to Heterogeneous Catalysis and Chemistry of Corrosion. We focus on the elucidation of the mechanistic details of surface reactions in catalytic processes, including the preparation and characterization of specific surface intermediates and products and by-products of different chemical reactions. We use a number of techniques to understand the mechanism of reactions at the molecular level and these are - reflection and transmission infrared spectroscopy, quadrupole mass spectroscopy, and GC/MS. Currently, we are involved in the following research projects:

  • Hydrocarbon Conversion
  • Catalytic Converter and Automotive Exhausts
  • Corrosion of Different Metals and its Prevention
