The Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics with a Professional Emphasis features core courses and advanced training in theoretical physics along with electives. This combination prepares students for advanced training in graduate school, where they will seek a specialty.

Additional information

  • About Emphasis
  • Career Options

Students who seek degrees through our program have access to:

  • PSU Computational Physics Laboratory – A research lab dedicated to theoretical modeling of complex quantum mechanical systems.
  • PSU Nanophysics Laboratory – A research lab dedicated to the growth and analysis of graphene and nanomaterials.
  • Courses with specialized training in theoretical physics, data collection, and computer modeling.

The Professional Sequence assists students in matriculating to a graduate program in pursuit of an advanced degree (MS or PhD). Students with advanced degrees can go on to work for research facilities in private industry, government research labs, or universities.
