About the Materials Science Masters Program
The College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the College of Technology, presents the Master of Materials Science degree program. This interdisciplinary program equips students for careers in industry and further studies in materials science, engineering, and related fields. This unique interdisciplinary STEM program, jointly designed by both colleges, offers hands-on academic activities and practical experiences, preparing students for the workforce.

In this transformative program, students gain vital skills in critical thinking, hands-on operation of advanced scientific equipment, data analysis, and interpretation of laboratory findings. The program's immersive, hands-on approach positions students for success in both industry careers and advanced postgraduate studies in materials science.
Options available for the degree include:
Option I: Thesis
This option is designed to prepare students for a doctoral program, advanced professional careers, or for students wanting to complete an in-depth research experience.
Option II: Non-Thesis
This option is designed to provide a research experience that can include a specific problem, creative and aesthetic efforts such as performances, exhibits, or creative programs, or an internship.

Our graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in industry, academia, or government. Students earning a graduate degree will be well positioned to be accepted into a doctoral program or enter the workforce. Our graduates are qualified for a variety of options:
