General Education Degree Requirements

The general education degree requirements consist of 46-53 credit hours of course work. These 46-53 credit hours are distributed across nine areas: basic skills, sciences, social studies, political studies, producing and consuming, fine arts and aesthetic studies, cultural studies, health and well being and human heritage.

All baccalaureate students must meet general education requirements. Separate general education degree requirements have been approved for students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Education degree and the Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree. See the College of Education and the Department of Engineering Technology for specific requirements.

Courses meeting general education requirements may also satisfy major, minor, emphasis or program requirements.

The requirements for each of the nine areas can be satisfied only by taking one of the courses or combination of courses listed. These courses have been selected by the academic departments and approved by the General Education Committee.
