Three musical groups comprised of PSU students will perform two concerts that are free and open to the public.

At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, the PSU Wind Ensemble will perform its first concert of the academic year in the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

A pre-concert fanfare will take place in the lobby at 7:15 p.m.

Called “Portraits,” it will be directed by Andrew D. Chybowski, director, and Matthew Reimer, graduate conductor. Chybowski is an instructor in the PSU Department of Music, and Reimer is the band director at Pittsburg Community Middle School and an assistant band director at Pittsburg High School.

The playlist includes a range of music, from “Paris Sketches” by Martin Ellerby to “San Antonio Dances” by Frank Ticheli.

At 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 1, the PSU Jazz Ensemble and PSU Jazz Combo will perform their first concert of the academic year in the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall.

Director Robert Kehle, professor of music, said the concert “will include something for everyone,” from jazz standards to contemporary works.
