Technology Support Consultant

Position Description

Pittsburg State University is accepting resumes for a Technology Support Consultant. This position reports to the Director of IT Campus Services in the department of Information Technology Services (ITS). The TSC is responsible providing technical support to end-users for computer hardware, software, and network related problems. The TSC is responsible for providing technical support to end-users for computer hardware, software, and network related problems. Technical support for this position is focused on educational technologies and other equipment appropriate for academic offices, computer labs, and classroom settings.

Responsibilities

  • Support computer platforms for administration, faculty, and staff; develop hardware and software specifications, provide support for annual software upgrades;
  • Purchase new equipment, parts, and software;
  • Perform setup of new and reconfigured equipment;
  • Perform hardware and software installations and upgrades.
  • Perform preventive and routine equipment maintenance;
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and facilitate repairs;
  • Work with vendors for warranty and non-warranty parts replacements and returns.
  • Maintain and manage inventories for hardware, software, warranties, and licenses;
  • Maintain inventory of serviceable used equipment;
  • Dispose/recycle obsolete equipment.
  • Serve as a liaison between ITS and academic areas that are served in this position.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, round tables, etc to share and learn about IT solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to electronic or computer technology

  • Minimum two years of experience with current Windows or Macintosh operating systems
