Assistant Professor

Position Description

Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in the area of Nutrition and Wellness in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Pittsburg State University. Position begins on August 12, 2019.


Teach undergraduate nutrition courses; academic and student organization advisement; meet scholarship requirements; and participate in appropriate service activities expected of a Pittsburg State University faculty member.  Participate in long range planning and curriculum development for the department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctorate required, with at least one advanced degree in Nutrition or closely related area (ABD considered).
  • Earned Masters in Nutrition/Dietetics or closely related area required to be considered for instructor level
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required
  • Nutrition and Wellness experience strongly desired
  • At least one degree from a department/college of Human Sciences, Human Ecology, Family & Consumer Sciences, or related program desired
  • Documented effective undergraduate instruction desired
  • Experience in student advisement desired

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, located in the College of Arts & Sciences, offers undergraduate degree programs in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and Family and Consumer Sciences with concentrations in Child Development, Community and Family Services and Nutrition and Wellness.
