Statement from President Scott on DACA decision

Tuesday’s decision to end the Delayed Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will have broad and far-reaching consequences for hundreds of thousands of young people across the country. Pittsburg State University shares the concerns and frustrations evident in the pronouncements made by other Kansas regents institutions and our national association.

As the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, of which Pittsburg State is a member, stated Tuesday, individuals within the DACA program were “provided temporary reprieve from the only country many of them have ever known.” (Full statement) These individuals, some of whom attend Pittsburg State University, are now facing an uncertain future through no fault of their own.

We urge Congress to come together and craft a solution that will allow the young men and women within DACA to achieve their dreams.

University staff members are reaching out to those directly impacted by this decision to provide support and guidance during this time of uncertainty.
