U.S. News: PSU among the Best in the Midwest

U.S. News and World Report has once again selected Pittsburg State University for inclusion on its list of the best first-tier regional universities in the Midwest. U.S. News released its “2017 Best Colleges” rankings on Tuesday.

For U.S. News, the Midwest includes the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

In determining the rankings, the publication considers factors such as peer assessment, first-year student retention rates, graduation rates, class size, student-faculty ratio, SAT and ACT scores, acceptance rates and alumni giving.

Howard Smith, interim associate vice president for enrollment management and student success said inclusion on U.S. News’s list of the best universities in the Midwest is more than just a point of pride for Pittsburg State.

“Behind the numbers; behind the data sets, charts and graphs, are real people,” Smith said. “Every day, the faculty and staff at Pittsburg State University work hard to provide transformational experiences that changes lives. This university is committed to helping students succeed, both academically and in life and ultimately that is why PSU is one of the Best in the Midwest.”
