Death leaves PSU shocked and saddened

Pittsburg State University President Steve Scott issued the following statement upon learning of the death of retired PSU employee, Larry Weaver. According to media reports, the body of Weaver, who had been reported missing from Sikeston, Mo., on Tuesday, June 28, was discovered this morning in a cotton field near that city.

“We are shocked and saddened by this news,” said Scott. “Our hearts go out to Larry’s wife, Regina, and their family. I ask our campus to keep them in their thoughts and prayers and offer my deepest condolences.”

According to media reports, authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with Weaver’s death and are searching for at least one other suspect at this time.

Weaver, 66, recently retired from Pittsburg State University after working 20 years as a programmer in the Office of Information Systems.

"We had been holding out hope for Larry ever since he was first reported missing," said Angela Neria, PSU's Chief Information Officer. "It's devastating to know that someone so full of life and love for his community is gone. He will be missed by all of us."
