KTC hosts Woodworking Boot Camp 2016

Wood technology professionals from across the nation will be at Pittsburg State next week for the third annual Woodworking Boot Camp session. The week-long event takes place May 16-20 at the Kansas Technology Center.

Created by Pitt State wood technology faculty Doug Hague and Charlie Phillips, the Boot Camp is a comprehensive wood processing overview geared toward supply-side companies in the wood industry who wish to further educate their workforce. It is conducted in coordination with the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) and the Wood Technology Industry Institute (WTII).

Designed for sales professionals, sales managers, product managers and executives, the course aims to broaden the understanding of secondary wood manufacturing companies.

“We are excited host another Woodworking Boot camp,” Hague said. “We cover many different areas of manufacturing from CAD/CAM design through CNC to veneering, cabinetry, woods, tooling, millwork, and the list goes on. It’s a wonderful learning opportunity for all who attend.”

For their roles in creating the Boot Camp, Hague and Phillips were honored in 2015 as Educators of the Year at the Woodworking Industry Conference.
