Former SNL comic to perform at Bicknell Center

Tickets went on sale to the general public this week for the Gorilla Activities Board’s presentation of comedian and actress Nasim Pedrad with special guest Jon Rudnitsky at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, in Pittsburg State University’s Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

Pedrad is a former cast member of “Saturday Night Live” and starred in the show “Scream Queens.” She was also a co-star in the Fox sitcom “Mulaney” and had supporting voice roles in the animated feature film, “The Lorax,” and “Despicable Me 2.”

Born in Tehran, Iran, Pedrad immigrated to the U.S. with her parents and grew up in California. She frequently performed her one-woman show, “Me, Myself & Iran,” at the Los Angeles divisions of ImprovOlympic and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. That show was selected for the 2007 HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and Pedrad received an LA Weekly Best Comedic Performance of the Year Award as the lead in the comedic spoof, “After School Special.”

Pedrad made her first television appearance on an episode of “Gilmore Girls.” She had a recurring role on “ER” as Nurse Suri. Pedrad joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” in 2009.

Jon Rudnitsky, originally from New Jersey, studied acting at the University of Southern California. He joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” as a featured player last August.

Tickets for the performance are $5 for PSU students (with valid ID), $10 for PSU faculty and staff and $15 for the general public. For additional ticket information, contact the PSU ticket office at 620-235-4796 or visit their website, www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
