Artists talk closes exhibit

Artist Neil Lawley will give a public talk about his work at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, in 103 Porter Hall on the Pittsburg State University campus. Lawley’s presentation coincides with the closing of his exhibit, “Point Clouds,” in PSU’s Harry Krug Gallery. A reception for the artist will follow his talk.

Lawley uses reclaimed lumber and other construction materials to create art that evokes the interrelated nature of all things, both machined and natural.

Lawley received his MFA in studio art (sculpture) from Southern Methodist University, his BFA in studio art (ceramics) and a BGS in engineering/art at the University of Texas at Tyler. He also holds an associate’s degree in pre-engineering from Trinity Valley Community College. Currently, Lawley is an assistant professor of art at Missouri Western State University.
