PSU to hold annual sale

Every year, like many homeowners, Pittsburg State University cleans out the closets and makes decisions about what it wants to keep and what it needs to get rid of. What follows is a different kind of garage sale.

PSU will hold its annual surplus sale at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, at the Physical Plant, 304 E. Lindburg, on the PSU campus. The sale is expected to conclude by 3 p.m.

Dennis Sellegren, who manages much of PSU’s recycling program, said he hates to see anything go to waste.

“Before we put anything in the sale, we make sure there isn’t an office or department that can use it,” he said. “We like to repurpose things whenever we can.”

But with very limited storage space on campus, there comes a time when stuff just has to go.

This year there are lots of wooden cabinets, some metal shelving units, office chairs and other office furniture. There are windows and doors and some miscellaneous items.

“I’m sure there are people who can find a good use for most of this,” Sellegren said.
