Choirs present Bouquet of British Masses

The choirs of Pittsburg State University will present “A Bouquet of British Masses” for their final concert of the 2013-14 season. The program, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in Pittsburg’s First United Methodist Church, will feature four short and diverse settings of the Mass by British composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The program will include “Missa Brevis” in D, Op. 63, by Benjamin Britten; “The Son of God Mass,” by James Whitbourn; “Missa Sancta Margaretae,” by Gabriel Jackson; and “A Little Jazz Mass,” by Bob Chilcott.

The program will be sung by members of the University Choir and the PSU Chorale, under the direction of Susan Marchant. Instrumental soloists will include Joanne Britz, soprano saxophone; and Ian Classe, organ.

The performance is free and open to the public.  For more information about the event, contact the PSU Department of Music at 620-235-4466.
