Graphics and Imaging to be on display at G3 Expo

Like many programs at Pittsburg State University, graphics and imaging technologies comprises a variety of study areas. There’s print technology and graphic design. There’s web design and 3-D computer animation, photography and video editing.

Bringing awareness to those areas and many more is the goal of the Graphics, Gadgets and Games Expo, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Pitt State’s Kansas Technology Center.

“Graphics and Imaging Technologies encompasses all creative industries that use computers for the development of their designs,” said Assistant Professor and event coordinator Akram Taghavi-Burris. “The purpose of the Pitt State G3 Expo is to provide a gathering for individuals to share their appreciation and foster awareness of the study and industry of graphics.”

The event will feature a variety of graphics-related presentations by PSU graduates, faculty and students. There will also be a variety of exhibits featuring industry professionals and on-campus student organizations. Contests and tournaments, such as Photoshop and video game competitions, will also take place throughout the day.

The event is a joint venture of the Gamma Epsilon Tau GIT honors society and the Pitt State Graphics Art Club. Additional sponsors include the Pitt State GIT department, College of Technology, Funimation and Jock’s Nitch.
