PSU celebrates families

The focus will be on families this weekend as Pittsburg State University celebrates Family Day.

The fun begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, with Dia de la Familia, a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom. Families will be invited to make their own burritos, play Loteria, take silly photos in the photo booth and make crafts. The event is sponsored by the Office of Student Diversity.

At 2 p.m., the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations will offer Gorilla Family Fun Day. Check-in, pictures with Gus and kids games will run from 2-3 p.m. on the Oval. From 3-5 p.m., children may participate in Science for Kids, Nature Reach tours, a tour of the night sky in the Planetarium and Technology for Kids. The cost is $5 per child and adult. Adult supervision is required. Activities are designed for children ages 3-12.

To register, call 620-235-4758.

GorillaFest activities begin at 5 p.m. in Gorilla Village and include kids games, inflatables, food vendors, live music and the traditional pep rally.
