T-shirt promotion aims to get more Gorilla Gear on campus

Pittsburg State students hoping to add more Gorilla Gear to their wardrobe will get that chance on Tuesday, Sept. 3, during the university's first "Trade Your Tee Tuesday" event. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday on the Oval, students can receive a free Pitt State shirt if they trade in a shirt bearing the name or mark of another university.

"We know how proud our students are to be Gorillas, and we want them to show that pride by wearing Pitt State apparel," said Chris Kelly, associate vice president for marketing and communication. "And maybe we're a little biased, but we'd rather see our students in Pitt State apparel than any other university's shirts."

To be accepted as a trade-in, the shirts must be clean and in good shape. All shirts that are collected will be donated to a charitable organization.

"That's one of the really cool things about this," Kelly said. "This isn't just about getting students in Pitt State gear. It's also about collecting a strong number of shirts that can be donated to organizations and people who can use them."
