Business owners to speak at forum Wednesday

Overcoming the challenges of owning a business is the topic of forum on Wednesday featuring three former Pittsburg State University students who are now business owners.

The Kelce College of Business Jungle Journeys program will present a panel discussion on entrepreneurship at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in Kelce Hall Room 121. Featured speakers will include Heather Horton, owner of Sweet Designs Cakery; Aaron McConnell, owner of MAC Fitness; and Patrick Stoddart, owner of Revdel LLC. All are former PSU students.

The discussion will be moderated by Tony Dellasega, President of Community National Bank in Frontenac. Dellasega also serves on two statewide economic development advisory boards, the Kansas Small Business Development Center program and the Kansas Center for Entrepreneurship.

Ksenyia Caldwell, Jungle Journeys coordinator, said the purpose of the panel is to give current students an opportunity to learn about business ownership from those who are living the experience.

“We wanted to have former PSU students who own businesses a chance to come in and share their stories with us,” Caldwell said. “We want to hear about their difficulties and challenges and how they overcame them. It’s always good to hear from those who have experienced what many of us hope to accomplish someday.”

The panel is open to all PSU students.
