PSU hosts novelist Kellie Wells

Novelist and short story writer Kellie Wells will read from her work at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, in the Governors Room of the Overman Student Center on the Pittsburg State University campus. Wells’ visit is sponsored by the PSU Distinguished Visiting Writers Series, the PSU Women’s Studies Program and the Student Fee Council.

Wells has written three highly acclaimed novels, “Compression Scars,” “Skin,” and “Fat Girl, Terrestrial.” Her short stories have appeared in various literary journals, including The Kenyon Review, Ninth Letter, The Fairy Tale Review and Prairie Schooner.

Wells has received numerous literary awards, including the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, the Rona Jaffe Prize and the Great Lakes Colleges Association's New Writer's Award in fiction.

Wells holds degrees from the University of Kansas, the University of Montana and the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. from Western Michigan University. Currently, she teaches at the University of Alabama.

A reception for the author will be held following the reading.
