International students prepare for Food and Culture Fair

Pittsburg State University’s international students are busy preparing for what the PSU International Student Association (ISA) describes as the biggest event of the school year.

The ISA will host the annual Food and Culture Fair at Pittsburg’s Memorial Auditorium from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. Organizers expect about 15 international student groups to offer cultural presentations and samples of food from their home countries.

Admission to the event, which is open to the public, is $1 at the door. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Food samples will be available for $1 to $1.50.

Officials in PSU’s Office of International Programs and Services said the event goes well beyond an opportunity for members of the community to sample a wide variety of international cuisine.

“It is an opportunity to meet and make friends with young people from all over the world,” said Cathy Lee Arcuino, interim director of international programs and services.

PSU’s approximately 430 international students represent nearly 40 countries from around the world. For more information, contact the Office of International Programs and Services at 620-235-4680.
