Gorillas prepare for first home basketball playoff game in more than a decade

It’s March, which means it’s time for basketball madness at Pittsburg State. The Gorilla men will host the first round of the MIAA Post-Season Tournament at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4. The Gorillas’ opponent will be announced following the completion of Saturday’s league games.

This will mark the first time since 2002 that MIAA first round games have been held on campus sites.

Per MIAA rules, tickets are required for all post-season playoff games. Pittsburg State University is offering 100 complimentary tickets to students, courtesy of the President’s Office.

The free tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede Physical Education Building. Students simply need to show a valid PSU student ID to receive their complimentary tickets.

“There’s nothing quite like post-season basketball in March,” said Jim Johnson, PSU director of intercollegiate athletics.  “We want to make certain our students have the opportunity to be a part of the excitement. We hope to have a great crowd on hand for Monday night’s playoff game.”

The ticket office will be open for regular office hours on Friday and Monday. The office will also be open during Saturday's final regular season home games and will hold special office hours from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday.

Seating for season ticket holders will be reserved until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4. After that time, all seating will be available to the general public.

Reserved seats may be purchased for $12. General Admission tickets are $10. Student and youth tickets are just $5.

For additional information, contact the PSU Ticket Office at 620-235-4796.
