PSU to host 6th annual Block Kids contest

Officials in the PSU College of Technology may get a look at some future students this weekend.

The sixth annual Block Kids event will take place at noon on Saturday, Jan. 26, in room S102 of the PSU Kansas Technology Center. Free and open to the first 100 students in grades first through sixth, the event challenges kids to build, in one hour, a construction-industry-related project using building blocks.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each class. An overall prize also will be awarded. Dennis Audo, assistant professor in the School of Construction, said each prize will relate to the construction industry.

“This is a fun event for the kids, and it just keeps getting more popular by the year,” Audo said. “We want to expose the kids to the field of construction and have a good time while we’re at it. The prizes will include things like age-appropriate tools and toolboxes.”

The event is sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction and the PSU School of Construction.
