Bells will once again usher in the holiday season at the 8th Annual “Ring in the Season” concert, hosted by Bells of the Balkans, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1 in the Bicknell Family Center for the Fine Arts at Pittsburg State University.
The concert will feature the Belles of the Bells under the direction of Donna Lyerla, the PittPres ringers directed by Terry Cox, the St. Johns Lutheran Bell Choir directed by Phillis Scorse, Bell soloist Terry Cox, and the award-winning Bells of the Balkans led by Janis Saket. Each group will perform several seasonal selections.
Bells of the Balkans is a group of 15 ringers from the Pittsburg area; many of the group’s members are involved in the church groups that will be performing, and also perform separately with the Balkans Ringers. The group recently won the highly coveted National Federation of Music Clubs Ruth Morris award.
The group recently performed at the Kansas State Music Clubs convention in Topeka, Kansas, and for the third year will perform with the SEK Symphony of Pittsburg State University at the Dec. 3 “Holiday Extravaganza” concert on Dec. 3.
The concert is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted.
