Department Overview

Printing instruction at Pittsburg State University began in 1910, just seven years after the university was established. Over the years, enrollment increased resulting in the establishment of the Department of Printing in 1973; in 1996 the department was renamed the Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies.

Department growth and excellence since that time has it considered as one of the best print/graphics instruction programs between the Rockies and Appalachians. A qualified faculty, recognized for their experience in education as well as technical expertise, gives a great amount of individualized attention to the student. The Department of Graphic and Imaging Technologies hosts conferences, workshops and seminars that bring noted personnel representing the graphics and imaging areas to the campus.

The Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies is driven by the vision of providing services to the print, graphics and graphic design industries that will be of significant value and application in the work force. Graduates work in all segments of the industry throughout the world.

A significant number of companies recruit on the campus of Pittsburg State University. It is our intent to provide students with the type of education that makes them marketable anywhere in the industry.

Occupying 26,000 square feet in the Kansas Technology Center, the Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies contains many specialized laboratories and a wide range of equipment, making it one of the most complete degree granting institutions in the field.
