Future Simulation Hospital

Students will have access to modern learning environments that support current teaching methods.

In order to develop a 21st century skillset, our students must have access to a 21st century learning environment. Pittsburg State has based its building needs on its strategic academic needs. The end result is a facilities master plan that fulfills our current requirements while also anticipating our future needs.

Under our previous campaign, Pittsburg State completed major facilities improvements with the opening of the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, the Robert W. Plaster Center and the renovated and expanded Jack H. Overman Student Center. But other facilities enhancements are essential if select academic programs are going to provide truly modern learning environments.

The School of Construction and the Heavy Equipment/Diesel Program in the College of Technology is a current priority for improvements. Even though the Kansas Technology Center continues to be an impressive facility, some programs have outgrown the space allocated when the KTC was built in 1997.

With the addition of the Doctorate of Nursing in the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing, the growing academic program needs additional space. The University broke ground on the new McPherson Simulation Hospital, an expansion of McPherson Hall to accommodate the needs of the growing program with a state-of-the art facility this last Spring. Ongoing support for this facility and technology needs will be developed through the Caring Society fund.

Through private gifts to the Pittsburg State University Foundation, Inc., Pittsburg State seeks to:

  • Increase the capacity of in-demand academic programming by expanding facilities such as the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing as well as new facilities for the School of Construction and the Heavy Equipment/Diesel Program.
  • Support the needs of student-athletes and the community through the successful completion of athletic facilities renovations.
