Symphony to perform Nov. 22

The Southeast Kansas Symphony, under the direction of Stella Hastings, will present "The Music of Antonín Dvorák" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, in Pittsburg's Memorial Auditorium.
The concert program includes: Scherzo capriccioso for orchestra, Op. 66; Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53; and Symphony No.8 in G Major, Op. 88 ("The English"). The violin concerto will feature violinist Selim Giray. Dr. Giray is associate professor of violin, viola and chamber music at PSU. He has performed extensively in four continents, and has appeared frequently on the national public radio and television. He has performed as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and conductor. Currently, he serves as principal second violin of the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and as concertmaster and assistant conductor of The Ohio Light Opera.
Tickets for the concert are $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens. PSU students with a valid ID are admitted without charge.
