Gorilla fans convinced they have the most spirited tailgate could get their validation this weekend at Pittsburg State University's first-ever tailgate competition.
Prior to the home game this Saturday, judges from the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations will inspect entrants' tailgate displays and judge them on the use of crimson and gold, uniqueness and creativity, and spirit.
Contestants will be competing for 4 tickets to the Rua Skybox for the Nov. 1 home football game against Washburn, as well as PSU merchandise.
Judging begins at 11 a.m. and the winner will be announced at the beginning of the pep rally in Gorilla Village at 1:10 p.m.
Pre-registration is required. Participants must sign up by 4 p.m. Friday, October 11. The contest is limited to the first 30 entries.
Each tailgating team must have one representative who will be present during the judging at 11 a.m. The representative must provide a cell phone number, so the judge can call to find out the location of the tailgate.
All contest participants must set up their displays between the brown parking lot to the east of the stadium and the brown parking lot to the west of Weede Gymnasium.
For rules and regulations, or to find out more about the competition, call (620) 235-4758 or (877) PSU-ALUM.
