The Department of Social Sciences will mark the 227th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution with a public lecture at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17. The lecture, "Contemporary Debates in a Constitutional Context," will take place in Room 301 of Russ Hall.
Dr. Paul Zagorski and Dr. Darren Botello-Samson will deliver the lecture.
"The inspiration for this lecture is a general observation of current political debates on constitutional issues," Botello-Samson said. "Frequently, political debates take the form of constitutional debates and constitutional issues are frequently debated outside the boundaries of constitutional debates. So we thought it would be useful to look at a few current issues from a constitutional point-of-view, framing the debates in terms of constitutional issues."
The lecture is open to the public and seating is limited. For more information, contact the Department of Social Sciences at Ext. 4325.
