The Pittsburg State University Jazz Ensembles will present their first concert of the 2012-2013 season at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom of the Overman Student Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
“There’s a little something for just about everyone in the program,” said Bob Kehle, director of Jazz Ensemble I.
Jazz Ensemble II is under the direction of Todd Hastings.
The program includes works from the libraries of Count Basie, Les Hooper, and the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors as well as standards like “St. Thomas.” There will be some Latin works, blues, straight-ahead swing, and even a work by a local four-state composer, Scott Harris.
