Tim Dawsey received his PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi with his research focused on the homogenous derivatization of cellulose. He then joined Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN working with a broad range of polyester syntheses and formulations. During his 15 years with Eastman, he held multiple positions with both technical and business focus, including Department Head of the Polymer Additives and Formulations Research Group, and Market Development Manager in the Developing Business Division. Following his time at Eastman, he spent 8 years with Spartech Corporation, a major plastics compounder, sheet extruder, and producer of thermoformed packaging; additionally, Dawsey was the Sr. Director of Technology for Spartech Corporation located in St. Louis, MO. He has been the invited author of chapters in two technical collections and has published multiple papers. His research interests revolve around identifying and developing technically feasible, and economically viable solutions to industry needs for renewable polymeric materials. Since 2013 Dawsey has served as director of innovation and commercialization at the Kansas Polymer Research Center at Pitt State.
