The Wind Ensemble is a select group of wind and percussion players in the The Wind Ensemble is offered both Fall and Spring Semesters with auditions being held at the beginning of each semester for personnel. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30 each semester. The ensemble will typically give two concerts in the fall and three in the spring. The PSU Wind Ensemble recently performed at the 2006 KMEA Convention in Wichita, KS. The Wind Ensemble is under the leadership of Dr. Craig Fuchs, Director of Wind Ensemble of the Department of Music. |

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is offered in the Spring Semester and enrollment is open The Symphonic Band serves an important role for the university in that it provides the general student body with the opportunity to continue their participation in a musical ensemble regardless of their major. Secondly, it provides the less experienced music majors the opportunity to build their musicianship and leadership skills. Concerts feature a variety of music from marches and Broadway medleys to some of the finest serious music composed for this medium. This ensemble will typically give two concerts during the semester. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 6:30-8:30. The ensemble is under the direction of Mr. Doug Whitten, Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands. |
