After spending 12 years at the Joplin Globe as chief photographer, Mike Gullett decided to enter the teaching profession for photojournalism. Before coming to Pittsburg State in fall 2000, he worked as a photojournalist for several newspapers in the Mid-West.
His photo credits include the Joplin (Mo.) Globe, the Chanute (Kan.) Tribune, the Parsons (Kan.) Sun, and the Ottawa (Kan.) Herald . As a photojournalist, Mr. Gullett has worked for the Associated Press, Kansas City Star, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Detroit Free-Press, and numerous other media outlets.
Mr. Gullett maintains his shooting and writing skills by accepting contract assignments from a variety of publications, including The Associated Press, USA Today, New York Times , American Profile and Missouri Life.
Mr. Gullett is a member of National Press Photography Association and the Joplin Advertising Federation. He is also an Award Winning Finalist in the 25th Annual Gordon Parks Photography Competition.
