History - MA Overview

The decision to seek an advanced degree in the Department of History reflects an interest in and an appreciation for the historical past.
The Master of Arts degree serves a four-fold purpose: to prepare individuals well-qualified to teach the subject of history, to demonstrate alternative modes of historical expressions such as simulations and living history, to provide students with research and investigative skills applicable to academic and professional situations, and to encourage the thoughtful and continuing study of history throughout the lifetime of the individual.

Graduate Admission Requirements
History (MA):
Admission to the History program requires at least 24 hours of undergraduate level history coursework. For any questions regarding the program or this requirement, please contact the program coordinator, Dr. Jonathan F. Dresner, 620-235-4315, jdresner@pittstate.edu.
For International students, a TOEFL score of 550/79 or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall and in all bands is required.
