The Department of Engineering Technology is housed in the Kansas Technology Center on the Pitt State campus. The Engineering Technology Programs are comprised of elements of the technological spectrum requiring scientific and engineering knowledge plus the operational methods and skills devoted to achieving practical purpose in support of product producing industries.
|ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY: prepares applied engineers and technologists who apply electrical and electronic theory through the solution of real-world problems in today's technological environment. It offers a broad curriculum in areas such as industrial controls, microprocessors, power, computer/digital instrumentation, local area networks and telecommunications. This program appeals to students who have an aptitude for math, physics and working with computers and electronics devices.||MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY: prepares applied engineers and technologist who plan what a product will be made of and how it will be manufactured. Manufacturing Engineering Technology appeals to students who have an aptitude for working with machines and solving production problems. Students who build, tinker, and fix mechanical devices are usually successful in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. This program involves the use of computer integratied manufacturing as well as conventional manufacturing methods and processes.|
|MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY: prepares applied engineers and technologists to enter employment related to engineering design and manufacturing. The Mechanical Engineering Technology program appeals to students who have an aptitude for using mathematics, physics, engineering drawing and computers to design and buld mechanical systems or consumer products.||PLASTICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY: prepares applied engineers and technologists who manufacture and design plastic products. Plastics Engineering Technology appeals to students who have an aptitude for mathematics, chemistry, computers and working with machines. The program involves the use of plastics production machinery, computer integrated manufacturing, and materials testing processes.
|CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
is one of the programs in the School of Construction. The program begins with a laboratory approach to construction materials and methods education then proceeds through appropriate laboratory and construction project management and engineering coursework. The Construction Engineering Technology major then adds strong technical content in the construction engineering and concludes with a simulated real-world capstone experience.
|MASTER OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
The Master of Engineering Technology degree is intended to be a terminal professional degree. This graduate program is a professional multi-disciplinary team and project-oriented approach to graduate education. It meets the needs of graduate students who want to include knowledge engineering management topics with core courses quantitative decision-making, systems engineering, and quality control. The program also includes advanced engineering technology courses in construction, electronics, manufacturing, mechanical and plastics disciplines. Many courses are available on-line for those students that continue working while pursuing this continuing education opportunity.
